The MSI Wind Netbook U120-024US is the best option if one is looking for more, while connecting the internet at a café. Wind is actually Wi-Fi Network Device featuring a speedy and energy efficient Intel Atom 1.6GHz Processor that gives a longer battery life and a better mobile lifestyle. The netbook offers plenty of hard drive space with slightly larger screen as compared to a typical netbook

Processor – the Intel atom processor is a 1.6 GHz Processor with 512 KB L2 Cache and 533 MHz Bus speed. The chipset type is Mobile Intel 945GSE Express.

Storage – the storage controller type is Serial ATA with Serial ATA-150 interface. The hard drive capacity is 160GB and is non-removable.

Memory – the MSI Wind version comes with a RAM of 1GB capacity and can ce extended up to maximum of 2GB.

Connectivity – the MSI Wind consists of built-in Gigabyte Ethernet LAN and a modem module. It also consists of a Built-in 802.11b/g WLAN Card and also has Wi-Max ready feature. Total Expansion slots- 1 ( 0 ) x Memory - SO DIMM 200-pin.  Some of the interfaces available are 1 x Display - VGA - 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15), 3 x Hi-Speed USB - 4 pin USB Type A etc.

Audio/video – The graphics processor is Intel GMA 950 Dynamic Video Memory Technology 3.0 whereas the audio output type consists of sound card. The audio is high definition one with a microphone input as well.

Power/battery – the battery is a 6-cell lithium-ion one. Required voltage- AC 120/230 V and the power required is 40 watt.

The netbook is 10.2 inches wide, 7.1 inches deep, 1.3 inches high and 2.2lbs heavy. The ratings can be as follows – performance – 5/5, energy efficiency – 3/5, design – 5/5, features 5/5.

Some drawbacks of the netbook are that the sound quality is not good, memory is average and its image quality is poor. But still MSI Wind is a good notebook with respect to great portability option, good connectivity and appearance. Hence it’s a good netbook with an overall rating of 4.5/5.

 
Netbook – Acer aspire one AOD 150

In the growing netbook market Acer have continued their great work of making the products affordable, as well as given a great choice to students and businessmen to travel light with a 3 pound, 6 cell battery netbook.

The new Acer Aspire One AOD150 is available in black, blue, red, and white colors. The Acer netbook comes with a Microsoft Windows XP Home operating system which is preinstalled and offers a more enhanced and innovative experience. There are features like Windows Live messenger for instant messaging, and Windows Live mail for checking E-mail accounts on the desktop.

Processor – The Intel atom processor is a 1.6 GHz Atom N270 processor and packs in 47 million transistors in a single chip of 0.87 inches, and consumes 2.5 watt of power, to give an excellent battery management.

Storage – This Acer version comes with a 160GB hard disk drive with 5400 RPM. The hard drive also quickens the pace with high data transfer speed.

Memory – the memory installed in RAM is 1GB capacity memory and can be expanded up to maximum of 1.5 GB of RAM.

Connectivity – the netbook consists of an integrated 54g wireless LAN and offers Acer’s SignalUp technology which provides enhanced antenna efficiency. It consists of SD memory card slot and a second multi-in-one card reader. This helps to download photos from multi-in-1 that allows sharing.

DVD/CD drive – the netbook comes with an optional DVD/CD read/write drives and this can be connected to the netbook via any one of the USB ports.

The chipset is Mobile Intel 945GSE, with Windows XP operating system with Service pack 3. The netbook is 10.2 inches wide and 8.4 inches deep. The height is 1.3 inches with 10.1 inches screen size. The rating can be as follows – design 3/5, features – 3.5/5, performance – 3.5/5, battery life – 4.5/5.

One of the few giveaways of the AOD150 is that it does not have a system recovery disks. The touch pad is also small and square, with a very small rocket bar below it. But still it’s a good netbook with a overall rating of 3.5/5.
